In November 2017 we installed Flowies at a number of community centres and social housing units on a trial basis. The Flowies were easy to install and worked exactly as we hoped. We plan to expand our trial in 2018 by including more civic properties and multi-family apartment buildings. The online dashboard is great for helping us pinpoint leaks and identify unusual consumption patterns.”

-Neal Klassen, Waterworks Design, City of Vancouver

The Flowie's ease of installation, portability, and intuitive digital interface makes it an ideal tool for a municipality to have; allowing for the temporary collection of interval water data with a cost effective and flexible device.”

billing dispute resolution for water users

Monthly water billing has increased demand for customer service. Municipal and utility organizations can meet the expectation for real-time water use by deploying a more targeted solution with the Flowie water sensor kit. Identifying the cause of unusual water use that leads to high water bills and subsequent disputes is possible with detailed water analytics and real-time water reports down to the minute.

With a growing population and limited supply of groundwater, Guelph City Council issued an RFP to find a technology that could promote conservation among residents. Alert Labs was awarded the contract and the city benefitted from better dispute resolution and a reduction in water use.

flowie incentive program

In Welland, Ontario, residents receive a quarterly water bill. In some cases, leaks or other water related events go unnoticed resulting in higher than normal water costs, and a subsequent bill dispute. City council determined that installing an AMR/AMI solution was not cost effective. Alert Labs worked with Welland to develop a $100 discount for the Flowie water sensor. Participating Welland water users can now monitor water use in real-time, detect hidden leaks, and avoid high water bills.
