State Auto partners with Alert Labs to offer InsureTech

COLUMBUS, OH--(August 15, 2018) - State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company (State Auto) and RAM announced their partnership with Alert Labs, builders of cellular-based IoT sensors, the Flowie smart water flow sensor and the Floodie flood detector. As part of the water loss prevention program, State Auto clients who are also members of RAM are now eligible to receive up to a 5% discount on insurance policies and $100 off Flowie and Floodie with the purchase of the leak and flood kit.

The Flowie water flow sensor straps onto water meters in seconds to track real-time water usage and send alerts to property owners for leaks, floods, unusual water activity, pipe freezing, power outages, and high humidity. The Floodie flood detector sends flood alerts when it comes into contact with water. Flowie and Floodie have saved North Americans more than 36 million gallons in wasted water and prevented hundreds of thousands of dollars in water damage.

Water damage is the number one insurance claim in North America. By partnering with Alert Labs, State Auto is helping to protect their commercial clients from high water bills and multiple sources of water damage. Clients will also benefit from increased peace of mind as Flowie and Floodie monitor individual or multiple properties 24/7 - even in a power outage. The combination of minute-by-minute water flow monitoring and flood detection provide property owners complete protection from water related costs. The intuitive Alert Labs App and Dashboard allow users to see analytics for minute-by-minute water usage events and receive alerts when there is a problem.

"We’re excited about partnering with Alert Labs to offer State Auto customers the latest in insurance technology. Flowie and Floodie offer a very easy way to prevent not only the financial stress water damage causes, but also the emotional impact that accompanies serious leaks and floods,” said State Auto Insurance Senior Vice President/Commercial Lines Kim Garland.

“The launch of this program highlights that strategies for water loss prevention are starting to change. We’re proud to work with innovative organizations like State Auto and their clients,” said George Tsintzouras, CEO and Co-founder of Alert Labs. “Adopting real-time water use data and a preventative approach to water damage will help boost customer satisfaction and reduce claims for water damage at State Auto.”

New or existing State Auto commercial lines customers are encouraged to contact a local independent agent to take advantage of potential insurance savings and a $100 discount on Flowie and Floodie.
