Sump pumps are essential for keeping basements free from water damage, but 11% of basement floods are caused by sump pumps that fail due to power outages, a lack of maintenance, or other mechanical failures. The average repair cost of a basement flood is $43,000 and this cost doesn’t factor in the wasted time and the emotional trauma experienced when irreplaceable items such as photos are lost to water damage.

One of its most appealing features is that anyone can install Sumpie in less than two minutes in both normal and sealed sump pits. In most cases, installation is as easy as (1) clipping Sumpie to the sump pump pipe, (2) plugging it in, and (3) registering the sensor with the Alert Labs’ Dashboard. The Dashboard, for computer and mobile, provides access to information and analytics for sump pump performance, current sump pit water level, and a historical record of all flood alerts.

Flood prevention solutions that rely on a WiFi network stop working when there is a power outage due to a storm, for example. That’s why Sumpie was designed to use a cellular connection with a backup battery to continue sending real-time alerts even when the power is out.
